Sexist in the City

Second graders visited me on Tuesday and we had a nice lesson on context clues, spanish words, and the legend of the poinsettia.  However, the highlight of the class went a little something like this:

Me: We have to treat our books very carefully or they will end up in our book hospital.

2nd graders: Where's the book hospital? Who works there?

Me: Well, it's in the back of the library and Mrs. D works there.  She makes all of our sick books better.  She's actually a doctor because she went to book repair school.  So, we should really call her Dr. D.

Sexist 2nd Grade boy: Actually we should call her a Nurse because she's a woman.

Whoa! What would Jessie Spano say? I'm a little worried about this kid's future with women.
